Wraith Squadron (Earth)
Wraith Squadron was an offshoot club run by Face which many of the more experienced writers from RS were invited into, having their own separate plot.
The Origins
Wraith Squadron originally came about when 3 friends in Britain (Face, Phil and Will (the original Locker) decided to create a Mod for the game Half Life, and make it Star Wars!
The Mod (unfortunately) never took off, but Wraith stayed around via a mailing list until the Great RS Board Crash of 2001, when suddenly, many of the users of the Rogue Squadron Board found themselves homeless. The Wraith mailing list turned into the Wraith Squadron Club!
It differed from the main RS club, with the stories attempting to fit in with the Star Wars canon. Face became Callum "Face" Fraser (his real name), an ex-CorSec agent turned NR Commando. However, the writers who had characters on both boards (Face, Mish, Wes, Corran, Tyria, Shadow, Ran, Gen (Feylis), Lara and Void) had very similar characters. In fact, Face, Wes, Shadow and Void had identically named characters!
The plot lasted quite a long time (the longest of all non-RS plots) with multiple plot strands and character expositions, including some memorable group plots.
Returning Home
However, when RS once more became a whole, the majority of the writers switched back to the traditional board, leaving Wraith Squadron slightly adrift. However, when the driving force behind Wraith (Face and Mish) returned to the RS Plot once more, they bought the whole of the Wraiths with them, taking the majority of the backstories created, and meshing them in with the traditional plot! It was also at this point, that Wraith Squadron (in the RS Plot) became it's own entity, commanded by Face and having it's own structures and procedures, not governed at all by the Rogues, but working together as equals).
Characters
Some of the Wraith characters began in the Wraith Squadron offshoot, and migrated back to the main RS Board.
Also, some of the other characters were developed greatly in the Wraith Squadron plot. Many of these developments transferred back to the RS equivalent when their writers did.
Finally, some characters never made it back (with the exception of a minor mention in the plot)
- Corrin Storm
- Wes Janson (an alternative version)
- Valerie Sabryn
- Link Trapper
- Jaster Maral
