Early Years
Introduction to Star Wars
For Myn's 4th Lifeday, his Great Aunt mailed him a VHS Cassette Tape from the stone age entitled "Star Wars." It was from so far in the long long ago that it wasn't even labelled "A New Hope." Within the package was a simple note that went something like this: "Dear Myn, here's a movie we think you'll like, I hope you enjoy it." The rest is history.
Star Wars in grade school
Myn's Star Wars addiction was not supported by his early education instructors. One of Myn's oldest memories is of his teacher's response to a book report on the original Rogue Squadron novel. Having not seen the films (!!!!!) she responded in shock to his statement that it is set "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away" and rebutted it by saying "we don't even go galaxy hopping now, let alone a long time ago." Myn's head subsequently exploded in a flash of irony, fury, and proximity stupidity.
Grinder
Myn met Grinder around +/- 5 BRS (5 years Before Rogue Squadron). It was he who introduced Myn to the Expanded Universe. The two enjoyed many years of Star Wars geekery, including games like Rebel Assault and X-wing Alliance, novel trading, and blowing up Jar Jar Binks dolls. Grinder joined Rogue Squadron on Myn's recommendation; however for unknown reasons he seems to have disappeared from the galaxy at large. He was last seen observing rice paddies somewhere outside Shanghai, China. (Seriously)
Rogue Squadron
Shortly before the beginning of Myn's 7th year of primary school, at the tender age of 12 earth years, he became friends with one who identified herself as Callista. She invited him to join something called "the Rogue Squadron loop." He was immediately addicted. Some intimidation did interfere with his early interaction with the club, and he was something of a "lurker" for some time. He finally got up the nerve to post his first email to the loop, which unfortunately still exists in the archives somewhere to this day. If anyone posts that first email, he or she will suffer a swift and painful death.
The Plot
Myn was sucked into the Plot Frenzy along with the rest of the Squadron when Ran posted his short, sweet, and epic Plot 1 Introduction. He hastily wrote a terribly worded, horribly paced, grammatically appalling tale about commanding the three Generals during a quick raid on the Imperial Star Destroyer in orbit. Several other equally horrid plots followed that one, although unfortunate circumstances interfered with his continued participation in the plot.
RS Meets
Myn's first RS Meet was at the former RSHQ in Los Angeles at the home of Generals Horn and Janson. It was the weekend of April 22, 2005, and Myn had several good reasons to be in LA. The primary reason is that his Great Aunt, the one who sent him Star Wars for his birthday, was terminally ill. He immediately booked a flight to visit her, and informed the Generals of his imminent arrival. The second reason was of course the opportunity to meet the great Generals in the flesh. The third excuse, and possibly the most significant, was the fact that Myn's musical hero was playing in LA that Saturday night.
The next summer, Myn was lucky enough to be studying in London with his University during Face Loran's wedding. He took a train from London to Wales, met Shadow, Bowman, Face, and Mish, and stayed overnight in the castle Craig y Nos. After finally meeting Face, he came to the conclusion that Face isn't quite as cool as he thinks he is, but he comes very very close.
Myn was unable to attend the Great RS Meet 2007 as he was in not-America when it occurred.
misc awesomeness
Myn has driven a thousand miles in one night and knows what PC Load Letter means. He can run a mile in six minutes and once diffused a live hand grenade with his teeth. (His hands were too busy engaged in a knife fight.) He can cook minute rice in thirty seconds. Myn can go several days without food or sleep and believes this will help him when the War starts. Legends say that he once recited the first hundred digits of pi - in binary. Truly, he has a dizzying intellect. Myn believes that in the next twenty years he will be either in space, a robot, or dead. He cannot wait to see what happens next.
