May the fourth be with you

A long standing tradition in RS is to be the first person to say “May the Fourth be with you!” on the 4th of May every year. It inevitably results in great elation for the person who posts it first and great vitriolic anger and rage directed at them by everyone else (mainly General Horn) who didn’t. Some members have taken advantage of their time zone to get a jump on the bulk of RS, but in one stunning case in 2008, Face managed to be the first one to post even though he did it at midnight of the 4th for those in UK and what would have been the middle of the day for those in the US. It is unknown who started the tradition in RS, but the year was 2000.

2000 to 2001

The Great Board Crash of 2001 wiped out a year’s worth of RS posts. The weekly The RS Post e-mail newsletter I used to send out did indicate a May the 4th post in 2000, though, with a single entry: “May the 4th - The pilot wish Lara a happy birthday.”

1999

We failed.
