Mardex was a captain in the New Republic Special Forces before allegedly suffering some form of mental breakdown, and being retired on ill mental health. He was a mercenary for several years before joining Wraith Squadon.

Background

Little is known of Mardex’s childhood (including his first names), although it has been speculated that he was born Force sensitive, at the time Vader was first massacring Jedi, creating possible mental scars.

He joined the Rebellion, eventually joining the New Republic Special Forces. He is a genius at any craft that flies, from hand gliders to battleships and anything in between. His skill is such that he could qualify for any of the elite squadrons in the New Republic on his own merit.

Mardex’s piloting skills are matched by his blaster skills. He is above average with a blaster rifle, but superb with a pistol, and almost unrivalled with a sniper rifle.

During his Special Forces Career, Mardex was teamed up with (then) Lieutenant Garik “Face” Loran in a small unit codenamed Red Blade. The four of them (Mardex, Face, Locker and Vhiran "Rataka" Maverick were involved in an undercover assignment which ended them getting framed for a crime they didn’t commit.

Mardex was the pilot on Red Blade’s fateful mission. However, rather than be tried by the military, owing to his mental instability, he was interned at a psychiatric hospital. However, he routinely escaped to accompany Red Blade on their missions. After 6 months, when Red Blade proved themselves to be innocent, Rataka left the military. Without Rataka's support, Mardex was not allowed to rejoin the NR military. So, he simply decided to escape permanently.

Mardex set up shop as a mercenary, selling his skills to any who’d hire him. He eventually wound up working with Khab'corvh, a Noghri on assignment from Hoghnor. Mardex was injured on their final mission, and returned to Hoghnor with his friend, setting up a fateful meeting with Face Loran once more.

Physical Attributes and Abilities

Tall, almost rangy. Mardex has thinning brown hair, permanently hidden under a blue cap. He wears a tan bantha hide jacket with a Corellian sandpanther on the back.

Believed to be slightly Force sensitive, Mardex is an excellent pilot, able to fly anything with wings (and some things without). He is also an extremely competent marksman, and excellent sniper.

Mardex is either mentally unstable or exceptionally good at pretending to be so. The symptoms of his “insanity” vary, but generally include self-identification with fictional characters, hallucinations, belief in the "intelligence" of inanimate objects, among others. He frequently referred to his invisible dog, "Billy", whom he named his R2 unit after.

Personality Traits

Mardex’s personality shifts constantly, but underneath he is a warm and compassionate man. Despite his instability, Mardex can always be relied on in dangerous situations.

Military Rank and Current Assignment

Mardex was a Captain in the New Republic Special Forces, before being declared insane and placed in a Veterans Administration mental institution. That is the rank to which he is given in the New Rebellion.

With the exception of his signature jacket and hat, Mardex has no significant possessions.
