Background
Early Life
While Dru's birth parents and homeworld are unknown quantities, Dru was adopted and raised by self-styled Admiral Ryland Kargin from early childhood. His father, a Republic Navy officer turned pirate and privateer, groomed Dru as a starfighter pilot from a young age, employing him in his organization, the Kargin's Krayts, first as a mechanic, and then as a pilot. After his father was killed while assisting the Rebel Alliance in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, a 19 year-old Dru took over command of Ryland's organization, though it suffered from a lethal coup following Ryland's death, which the organization would never truly overcome. As the company shrank, Dru spent his ever-increasing free time learning everything he could about starfighter repair, slicing, and negotiating, before joining the New Republic Starfighter Command at the age of 25.
New Republic & Hawkbats
Two years later, Dru earned himself a billet in Rogue Squadron, where he served as a pilot and engineer for a year before resigning his commission and setting out on his own, to try his hand at information brokering. Once again a self-styled General, Dru commanded the Stingray, a modified CEC Action VI Transport, and the Hawkbats, a handful of like-minded individuals including long-time friend Gemmer Gavin. While Dru has yet to share the details of this phase of his life, it is known that after about three years, the untimely loss of two core personnel resulted in the dissolution of his organization. Additionally, Dru was romantically involved with the Hawkbats' medic, Jaelyn Tsylle.
New Republic, Round 2
After months of employment as a gun-for-hire and infiltration specialist, Dru found himself face-to-face with Flight Yub Yub during an infiltration of the facilities of one Dr. Ghanz. Seeing his old friends helped to bring perspective back to his life, and he chose to re-join Rogue Squadron, bringing with him all the secrets he'd gleaned over his years as an information dealer. Among those secrets were design documents for Grand Admiral Grant's command ship, the Bloodlust, which proved crucial in planning the Battle of Bormari.(ref)
Following the Rogues' victory at Bormari, Dru played a crucial role in the procurement of the Krayli's Valour for use as the base of operations for the new Task Force Renegade. Prior to the ship's maiden voyage, however, Dru and several other members of Rogue and Wraith squadrons were ensnared in a clever Imperial trap on Keshoc Station, sprung by an elite group of COMPNOR operatives. Aboard Keshoc, Dru was captured and tortured by COMPNOR.(ref)
In the tumultuous weeks following the Keshoc crisis, Dru found himself promoted to Major and placed as second-in-command of Rogue Squadron within General Antilles' re-structured Task Force Renegade.
Physical Attributes and Abilities
Dru is a 5'9" tall human with a slim but athletic build. He has a full head of short, dark hair, and sports a rough beard. His left hand has been replaced by a prosthetic replacement. Dru is about 31 years old in 16 ABY.(ref) He's a bit rough around the edges, with a touch of wear on his face (the type of small lines that just kinda show from prolonged stress). He doesn't dress lavishly, and when he's out of uniform tends to dress sharply with an un-fastened coat, and hang out in the ship's lounge, local pub, or some other public venue where he can people watch or, perhaps more pertinently, eavesdrop.
While Dru's unarmed combat abilities are up-to-par with New Republic military requirements, it is not a mode of confrontation that he appreciates, and he will go to considerable length to avoid it. Instead, Dru has spent his elective combat training developing a quick draw and training his aim with a blaster pistol, preferring a fire fight to a fist fight.
Dru's lack of formal training in any technical area prevents him from being considered a true expert in any given field, but his natural proficiency toward mechanical systems and computer programming and operations, coupled with his years of private study and extensive practice have earned him the reputation of being a technical genius, and his excellence in these fields has been recognized by peers and superiors alike.
Years as the son of a pirate and a negotiator and commander in his own employ have mandated that Dru learn to handle people, both honorably and duplicitously. He is both an able diplomat and a proficient liar, and is generally able to quickly read his marks to discern how best to approach them. As secrets have been his business for the past four years, he has trained himself in both keeping them and extracting them from friends, enemies, and strangers.
Personality Traits
Dru is a fun-loving, honest guy who tends to be easy to get along with in personal interaction. While he tends to be up-front about himself with his friends, his years as an information dealer have taught him the value of subtlety and discretion, as well as helped him refine his "poker face." While his skills as an actor are not as accomplished as those of Face, his ability to hide his emotion from his face, voice, and even mind is well developed, and has served him well ever since his days flying with his father. One of his more notable quirks is his tendency to pepper his casual conversation with technical explanations, a trait which leads to frequent rabbit-trails.

Significant Possessions
It is understood from a conversation with Halley Kadorto that Dru's nonmilitary employment has brought him some measure of wealth.(ref) In spite of this fact, Dru tends not to live lavishly.
