Background

Born on Chandrila and the youngest child of Corl and Lysette Tarn, Deven had not yet been born when an Imperial Jedi Hunter team arrived on Chandrila seeking the source of the force presences that had been detected there. Lysette, heavily pregnant with Deven had been at her mothers house on that night and had returned to find her husband and eldest son Maximus dead and daughter Bel missing. Fleeing in terror, Lysette had sought sanctuary with friends and a short time later gave birth to Deven.

Lysette would eventually marry a man named Jan Bal and the young Deven would accept Jan as a father even as Jan accepted the child as his son.

When Lysette began to succumb to an incurable disease when Deven was ten, she began to tell him of his father and siblings. However, her death came before she could reveal the heretige he had been gifted with. A year later Deven would again lose a parent when Jan Bal effectively abandoned an eleven year old Deven to fend for himself on the streets of one of the minor Chandrilan port cities.

Forced to fight for every scrap Deven learnt to survive amongst the dregs of Society for almost three years before a random citizen protection sweep picked him up and placed him in a state funded home. There he would meet and start a relationship with a young girl named Sarah Channing, one that would last for almost two years until shortly after the two were declared independent and allowed once again to fend for themselves.

The relationship would end following Deven's dicision to sign up with the New Republic Armed Forces. A fierce opponent of militaries and war, Sarah immediately broke off the relationship and swore never to see Deven again.

Initially signing on as regular infantry and serving as part of the Republics rapid deployment initiative. He eventually proved himself and was accepted into one of the few operational commando units.

Deven served with distinction during the Galactic Civil War, various raids against Noz facilities and the so called Universal War Shortly after the Universal War, Deven's unit was decimated on the world of Riattu III defending the world from slavers. The only survivor, Deven had chosen to test out for the Starfighter corps, eventually being accepted into a squadron on the outer rim.

A short time later, following his part in the defense of a remote outpost, Deven soon found himself transfered into Rogue Squadron.

Physical Attributes and Abilities

Standing at 5'9' and with a fairly lean build Deven does not fit the traditional image of even a former commando, that of a tall, heavily built musclehead. Fairly average looking with brown eyes and equally brown hair cropped short, Deven is often capable of passing unnoticed on many human dominated worlds and prehaps because of this is likely one of the least holographed members of Rogue Squadron.

Deven possesses few scars, mostly small shrapnel scars, but he also has a small surgical scar on the back of his neck and a larger impact scar on the back and rear right side of his head.

As he was originally trained as infantry and later a commando, Deven has extensive training in the use of infantry based weaponry ranging in size from blaster pistols and rifles up to concussion missile launchers and deployable heavy weaponry. He also has a mid-level skill in the use of demolition armaments and explosives as well as basic medical training.

Deven has also recieved training in the ways of the force. His actual training was restricted to less than a month as he learnt the necessary skills needed to help him defeat the Dark Jedi overlord of the world of Ald Suran. Though his overall skill level is below that of both Corran Horn and Tyria Sarkin-Antilles, Deven has endevoured to continue his learning and is making good progress.

Personality Traits

Deven has an easygoing manner and possesses a sense of humor that serves to both entertain and act as a defense mechanism. Quick to make friends and just as quick to protect them, he has occasionally put himself in a dangerous situation during an attempt to help his squadmates.

He is however, prone to running headlong into a situation without prior thought, often placing himself and those with him in possible danger. This is balanced out by an ability to take advantage of any opening, no matter how small.

Psychological Profile - Deven Tarn

Military Rank and Current Assignment

Currently holds the rank of Captain and flies under the callsign of Rogue Four as wingmate to Flight Cadet Drake Norlem in Sanity flight.

Significant Possessions

Deven owns little in the way of personel posessions other than a few holos of his mother and single holo of his blood father and his brother and sister.

He does however, possess a story holo-cron provided to him by his stepfather that contains collected journals of past Tarn Jedi.

He also has three lightsabers. One was gifted to him by the Jedi Master who had trained him. The lightsaber was originally owned by Micah Giett, a Jedi Master who met his end during the Yinchorri Uprising prior to the Clone Wars. The second was taken from his sister Bel Tarn, following his defeat of her after her revelation of her Dark Side alliances and her suicidal attack on him.

The third lightsaber was built by Deven himself and due to a curious flaw in the jewel used, produces a red blade normally ossociated with Dark Jedi. He has kept the colour as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the force.

Starships

Standard non-modified Incom Corporation T-65 X-Wing Starfighter. Though he does not own the X-Wing as such, the starfighter is assigned to him on a permanent basis.

Astromech

Channing. Unmodified R2 model astromech painted in ocean blue with grey trim.
