Personality
Azazel (As-ay-zel) is a lazy spacer who pilots a Lambda class shuttle for a larger delivery company. He's got a good head on his shoulders, but he's undeniably lazy, procrastinating more often than not, staying up late and sleeping in past when he should. This has come back to bite him in the butt several times, and has cost him promotions and pay raises.
He's a coward, and just doesn't want to be caught in the ensuing firefight between the NR and Remnant. He doesn't have any love for the Imps, since they've taken his shipments many times over, and because he's smart enough to recognize that they're not going to have his best interests at heart. He doesn't want to throw in his lot with the NR forces, though, because he just doesn't want to die. Further, he wants to go back to his shipping job if he can.
Appearance
His features are, by and large, bland. His skin is pastelish, like human skin. His eyes are yellow, and he has the characteristic ruts running through his face seen in some Zabrack males like Bao Dur. A bit of skin paste and a wig/toupe/cap to cover his horns, and he could be Joe-anybody from any planet.
Early Life
Azazel grew up on Iridonia, the traditional home planet of the Zabrack. From a young age he showed an aptitude toward academics, and so excelled at the local Academy. He focused very much on his school work, but in his last year at the Academy he decided to break lose, to stop putting his life on hold for the sake of his career, and to develop a social life.
Breaking out of his usual ruts, he came upon a girl two years younger than himself, and loved her. The two got along well, but unfortunately her family didn't approve. Due to custody issues, she lived with more distant relatives, the most prominent of whom was a religious zealot by the name of Jon Ignavus, who was thoroughly convinced that Azazel could not have his niece's best intentions at heart, based strictly upon the discrepancy of age.
When he found out about the relationship, three months after the two had become a couple, and mere days before Az's graduation from the Academy, Jon was furious. He used his influence over Azazel's girlfriend, threatening to kick her out of his home in order to make her obey him. Distraught, she did as he said, and told Az that they couldn't see each other again. Not for two years or more, at least, until she was finally free of her uncle's influence.
That was the last that Azazel would hear from her for a long time. She told him the news on his birthday.
A few days later, emotionally crushed, Az accepted a job with the SorruSuub shipping company, piloting the shuttle Catharsis to the agrarian world of Sulon. The Catharsis's legendary hyperdrive failed along the way, and gave Az even more time to reflect upon his sitution. Upon finally arriving in the Sulon system, the Zabrack landed at the estate of Morgan, the farmer who was to receive his shipment of seed and feed, and had a long conversation with the man.
Morgan attempted to talk Az down, to discourage him from revenge, and to point out that there were other women out there whom Azazel might one day love if he only looked. Still full of rage, Azazel didn't listen, and struck out for Iridonia once more.
While there, he briefly returned to his home province and appologized to his parents, saying that he never meant to hurt them with his actions. They tried to get him mental health when Az admitted that he thought he was going insane, but he would have none of it, and left again on another shipping run.
While outbound, he spotted Jon's skimmer, an overly flashy model meant for compensation. Az just barely resisted the urge to smash into it with his larger shuttle, and struck out for the outer rim with his next shipment, still highly unstable.
While on the outer rim, on the planet Ruusan, he took to alcohol in a local bar and was nearly beaten to death by one of the local smugglers. Full of anger, Azazel procured a blaster and proceeded to burn the smuggler down from behind. Appaled at his own violence, Az took off, convinced that he would be prosecuted for his actions.
The settlement carried no records, however, as it was a frontier settlement, and Az was free of consequences for his actions. Flush with success, he returned to Iridonia, gave his parents a second, longer apology, and promptly smashed Jon's skimmer to pieces while the man was still inside.
Unknown to Azazel, Jon survived the crash. Az instituted a permenent ban on himself from his home planet, however, and struck out to the Galactic branch of SorruSuub, turning to alcoholism for most of the next six years until he met the Rogues and the Wraiths during the crisis at Keshoc Station.
